I started my career as a cultural anthropologist, and that experience really shapes how I approach stories in general, and research and interviews more specifically. Primarily interested in natural resource managment, I conducted field research on community-based management of fisheries in the Peruvian Amazon, forest management by the Chiquitanos in the Bolivian lowlands, and the use of guest workers in forestry in the southern US. I also worked as a researcher for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Bolivia and was a faculty member at Auburn University. Take a look at some of my scholarly publications.
